Well, partly this statement is correct but have you ever thought that this mindset is so selfish.
What about them (your family)? What would happen to them if you'll be taken out of the picture? It's not only YOU, but it's also about THEM. You're not the only one who will suffer from financial losses if something will happen to you but also them, the entire family, because whether we like it or not, as a Filipino we have close family ties. As our language says "BAYANIHAN" means helping with each other.
But? Do we always need to depend on our family? What about if they also have nothing to offer?
Being able to prepare "financial losses" whatever uncertainties may come along is a good way of expressing our LOVE to our family. As what they say "family is love", right? Show some love to your family members by preparing the uncertainties.
